Our dental surgery gives our patients the confidence to smile naturally gain.
The Surgical Procedure
Most of our patients will undergo two separate procedures. First, dental implant specialists Dr. Farnad will place the titanium implant in the jaw, allowing the dental implant to fuse with your jawbone for 3-4 months. In the meantime, we will replace any missing teeth by creating new ones.
Second, Dr. Farnad will place a permanent tooth colored crown, specially shaped and formed to match your adjacent teeth, to fit on top of your dental implant.
“Single stage” procedure
In some cases, dental implants can be performed in one procedure, or “single stage.” When the bone and gums are healthy and the anatomy is favorable, Dr. Farnad can place a dental implant immediately after tooth extraction. Then, a temporary prosthetic tooth can be placed. Six weeks later, the permanent crown will be placed.
How many teeth can I replace?
Anywhere from one, to two, to the entire upper or lower jaw can be replaced with complete dental implants. Before starting any procedures, Dr. Farnad will discuss with you how many dental implants you may need for the best prognosis.
What types of anesthesia is used?
Placement of your dental implants and any bone grafting can be performed with or without IV sedation under local anesthesia.
Do implants need special care?
The success rate is very high, but this rate can be increased by regularly maintaining good oral hygiene. In addition, Dr. Farnad and the general dentist will need to see you for regular follow ups. Remember that good oral hygiene (brushing and flossing) is very important to maintaining a long lasting, healthy dental implant.
